Mistral and Uvision has been jointly awarded a contract valued at $982m by the US Army for the HERO 120 loitering munition system.

The contract is structured as a multi-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) arrangement. It falls under the US Army’s Lethal Unmanned System (LUS) programme and includes procurement, fielding, training, and sustainment of the system.

Mistral will operate as the prime contractor with responsibilities that include system integration, managing the lethality package, overseeing programme management, and delivering sustainment support.

Developed by Uvision Air, the parent company of Uvision, the HERO 120 is a mid-range loitering munition developed for precise targeting of armoured and high-value targets.

The system is designed for flexible deployment across land, sea, and air platforms and can integrate with armoured vehicles, naval vessels, and rotary-wing aircraft such as combat helicopters.

Forward teams can also deploy it from concealed or stand-off positions.

The HERO 120 is interoperable with third-party intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR)/ command and control (C2) systems, allowing rapid cue-to-strike capability and integration into various force structures.

The system has previously been employed in various operational environments to provide increased situational awareness and precision engagement for soldiers.

Initial deliveries to the US Army are scheduled to commence in early 2026.
