Renault Trucks Defense has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thales for the integration of the Sotas communication systems on-board its vehicles for export markets.
Through the use of the Battlenet Inside electronic network, Renault has developed a proven capability to integrate any kind of mission equipment in its vehicles.
The Thales-developed Sotas communication systems is a vehicle communications server designed with an open and modular architecture that makes it scalable and adaptive to a variety of operational requirements.
The modularity of the system enables it to be configured specifically to suit all types of vehicles and missions.
The scalability of the vehicle communications server allows for an easy upgrade of the system without the need for reinstallation. This increased versatility provides quantifiable logistical advantages for a range of wheeled and tracked military tactical vehicles.
Currently, Thales’ Sotas systems are delivered and installed in more than 30 countries worldwide.
The company supports the continuous development of new capabilities in order to enhance the system’s mission effectiveness.
Renault Trucks Defense focuses on designing and building a complete range of tactical, logistics, armoured and non-armoured vehicles for military and security forces.
The company serves as the major military vehicles supplier for the French Land Forces and Special Forces. It is responsible for the maintenance of more than 90% of the French Army’s entire operational vehicle fleet.
In April last year, Thales signed a framework agreement with the Danish Defence and Logistic Organization (DALO) for the delivery and servicing of Sotas vehicle communication system.
