Lockheed Martin will serve as the principal contractor for the FMS.

According to DSCA, the Hellfire missiles will add to ROK’s current weapon inventory for AH-64E attack helicopter and boost missile capability.

With the missiles, the country will be able to defeat ‘current and future threats’, as well as develop interoperability with other AGM-114R Hellfire missile operators in the region.

DSCA said in a statement: “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by meeting the legitimate security and defence needs of one of the closest allies in the INDOPACOM Theatre.”

“It is vital to US national interests to assist the ROK in developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defence capability.”
