Saab has received an order from the US Department of State to provide its Giraffe AMB multimission radar system and other related services.

Saab has received an order from the US Department of State to provide its Giraffe AMB multimission radar system and other related services.

The 3D G/H-band surveillance radar will be used to protect deployed personnel from incoming threats and provide enhanced situational awareness in the battlefield.

The combat-proven radar system is capable of detecting rocket, artillery and mortar attack threats as well as conduct air surveillance.

Work under the SEK155m ($23.7m) contract will be conducted at the company's facilities in Syracuse, US, and Gothenburg, Sweden, with deliveries to take place between 2012 and 2013.
