The US Army has installed the AtHoc-built IWSAlerts emergency mass notification system (EMNS) for force protection and personnel accountability at Fort Hunter Liggett and Camp Parks in California, US.

Using Fort Hunter Liggett’s existing internet protocol (IP) network, the EMNS will provide alerts and associated emergency communications to all personnel across smartphones, mobile devices and desktops, as well as laptops and landline phones.

AtHoc US Army operations director Dave Brown said the system would provide the deployed sites with emergency communications and personnel accountability capabilities to help reduce overall infrastructure and maintenance costs, simultaneously expediting deployment time.

"The system greatly enhances their ability to respond quickly to emergencies, while increasing visibility for emergency managers and commanders on force status and ensuring full EMNS regulatory compliance."

Capable of activating all alerting channels with a single click of a mouse, the system enables rapid notification and personnel accountability before, during, and after emergencies.

With IWSAlerts, the military installations will receive full operational capability (FOC) of a mass notification system (MNS), which complies with the secretary of defence’s (SECDEF) specifications, ahead of the required 2014 deadline.

Equipped with unique multi-channel communications capabilities, the DISA Approved Product List (DISA APL) system addresses the Department of Defense issuance (DoDi) 6055.18 mandatory requirements for an installation emergency notification that is capable of reaching all military personnel within ten minutes or less.

Widely deployed at several centralised data centres, the system supports thousands of air force personnel at more than 120 locations worldwide and is also in use with the US Navy, Coastguard and Veteran Affairs.
