Ukraine’s state enterprise Ukroboronprom’s Lviv Armoured Plant has developed a new multi-purpose towing vehicle for Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Designated BTS-5B, the new towing vehicle is equipped with a powerful four-stroke engine that provides a maximum speed of over 60km/h and a 700km cruising range.
The vehicle has been armed with 12.7-calibre and AKS-74 machine guns, as well as rocket-propelled grenades.
It is capable of lifting loads, digging, welding and performing technical support of tank units in adverse locations.
Ukroboronprom Aircraft Industry and Operations deputy director general Yurii Paschenko said: "Ukroboronprom engineers continue developing military equipment necessary for Ukrainian military directly in the ATO area. Therefore, the manufacture of the prototype of a new multi-purpose towing vehicle – combining important functions several cars – is completed."
Upon induction into the forces, the vehicle will be used to carry out mechanical intelligence on the battlefield, emergency evacuation of damaged tanks from the hot zone, and withdrawal of stuck or sunken tanks.

The all-terrain Dozor B is a 4×4 light armoured personnel carrier (APC) suitable for cross-country and road surfaces. It can transport personnel and cargo, as well as provide protection against small arms and weapons of mass destruction.
The vehicle is armed with a remote-controlled 12.7mm NSBT-12.7 machine gun with a PZU-7 optical monocular periscope, and has an ammunition capacity of 450 rounds. The roof-mounted anti-aircraft machine gun can be rotated 360°.
