"Saab sees this new contract as recognition of the strong working relationship we have developed with the British Army."

The DTES system provides infrastructure, instrumentation and resources for realistic, live, force-on-force training, tracking and the monitoring of movements and combat performance of individuals, vehicles and equipment for after-action review (AAR).

Comprising a satellite-tracked vest, a halo that straps onto the helmet and a small-arms transmitter (SAT), the system brings enhanced realism to training by simulating each and every battlefield aspect, allowing troops to hone fighting skills and tactical awareness.

Specifically, DTES enables soldiers to target a mock enemy, while a real-time, three-dimensional replay of the continuing battle is transferred to a command post through five radio masts.

The data is subsequently combined into a batch of analytical tools and tables, which allow commanders to better analyse the battlefield situation.
