Through the partnership, MBDA’s Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP) land combat missile system will be supplied for Phase II of the LAND 400 programme.

Phase II of the programme involves the acquisition of combat reconnaissance vehicles to replace the DoD’s Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) fleet.

Featuring fire-and-forget and man-in-the-loop capabilities, the MMP has been designed for dismounted infantry and for integration on combat vehicles.

Weighing 15kg, the network-enabled MMP also receives third party target designation for indirect firing scenarios.

"Our product for Land 400, MMP, is the only fifth-generation anti-tank guided weapon (ATGW) in production."

“MMP is the most advanced and lowest risk missile solution for Land 400 Phase II and we are delighted to partner with Ferra Engineering to help bring MMP’s technological and strategic benefits to Australia.

“MBDA’s approach to Australian Industrial Content is based on two principles: ensuring the Commonwealth has the highest level of operational independence and sovereignty in its use of the missile and generating real opportunities for Australian industry.

“Our vision is for MMP to become the first missile that is built, maintained and evolved in Australia.”

As part of a separate partnership, Varley and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems will offer the Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missile for the programme, according to media sources.
