The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential sale for a range of explosive projectiles and charges to Iraq, as well as associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support.

Under the estimated $82m foreign military sale, Iraq has also requested 44,608 M107 155mm high explosive projectiles, 9,328 M485A2 155mm illumination projectiles, including M231 propelling charges, and M232A1 155mm Modular Artillery Charge System propelling charges.

The package also includes M739 fuses, M762A1 electronic time fuses, M82 percussion primers, M767A1 electronic time fuses, 20ft intermodal containers for transporting ammunition, personnel training and training equipment, and other related logistics support.

The proposed sale will contribute to Iraq’s efforts to develop an integrated ground defence capability.

The ammunition will be supplied from US Army stock.
