General Dynamics (GD) Land Systems has been awarded a $243m contract by the US Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command to produce and deliver an additional 115 double-V hull Stryker combat vehicles.

Under the contract, the company will provide Stryker vehicles in six variants including production sustainment support and obsolescence management services.

The double-V hull provides Stryker-borne soldiers with increased protection and survivability from roadside mines and improvised explosive devices.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in London, UK, and Alabama, Ontario, Canada and Ohio, US, with deliveries to be completed by September 2012.

The company has delivered 300 double-V-hulled Stryker vehicles to date under a separate contract for 450 vehicles awarded in July 2010.
