The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential sale of 15 UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopters and associated parts, equipment and logistical support to Sweden.

Under the estimated $546m foreign military sale, Sweden will receive 15 UH-60M Blackhawk helicopters, 34 T700-GE-701D GE engines, 15 AN/AAR-57(V)3 common missile warning systems, AN/APR-39 radar signal detecting sets and AN/AVR-2B laser warning sets.

The package will also include an aviation mission planning station, transportable operations simulator, communications equipment, spare and repair related support equipment, and other related elements of logistics support.

The acquisition of the helicopters will enable Sweden to fill its combat search and rescue and medical evacuation transport capabilities, while expanding its existing army architecture to counter territorial threats.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and GE Aircraft Company will be the prime contractors.
