US Senate Panel Approves New Arms Treaty with Russia
The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has voted in favour of a new strategic nuclear arms control treaty with Russia. The Russian and US presidents had agreed that the ratification process would be simultaneous. The new START treaty specifies that the number of nuclear war
The new START treaty specifies that the number of nuclear warheads be reduced to 1,550 on each side, while the number of deployed and non-deployed delivery vehicles must not exceed 800.
The new treaty was signed in April 2010 to replace the START 1 treaty that expired in December 2009, according to RIA Novosti.
