US soldiers will be able to communicate through voice and short text messages, viewing real-time footage from other vehicles or platforms through a multi-channel ground network.

The radios will be installed in the Abrams battle tank, Bradley fighting vehicle, High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle and future vehicles.

Tests on JTRS GMR engineering development models will be conducted at the Electronic Systems Center at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and at other contractor laboratories.

For the project, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems has partnered with BAE Systems, Rockwell Collins and Northrop Grumman, with support from Harris Corp.
