The US Army has awarded a $124.8m contract to BAE Systems to reset, upgrade and maintain M113 combat-proven infantry vehicles, an important part of the army’s heavy brigade combat teams.
The M113 can carry 12 troops and a driver and allows amphibious operation, cross-country travel across harsh terrain, and high-speed operation on roads and highways.

The contract includes repairing existing M113 vehicles to predeployment condition and updating to improve survivability, mobility and communications.
Acquiring long-lead items for future repairs, providing add-on armour for additional protection to 120 M113 vehicles, and giving support and maintenance services to the M113 vehicles at Fort Hood, Texas is also a part of the contract.
