BAE Systems has announced the purchase of MTC Technologies, a provider of technical and professional services and equipment integration for the US military and intelligence agencies.

The US$450m deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008, subject to regulatory approval.

MTC employs around 2,900 people and will become part of BAE Systems’ Customer Solutions Operating Group, under the company’s Technology Solutions and Services business.

BAE has also announced the acquisition of Petards Inc’s UK Government and Commercial software business for US$5m.

The developer of advanced surveillance systems will operate under BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies.
