The US Army has placed an order with TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) for upgrades and spare kits of secret non-secure internet protocol router (NIPR) access point (SNAP) very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite system equipment.
The new additional SNAP funding will provide support equipment and maintenance of TCS’s SNAP deployable communications products.

The TCS SNAP VSAT systems are transportable, ruggedised and provide multimedia communications capabilities to convey encrypted voice, video and data.
The funding is through the US Army’s $5bn worldwide satellite systems (WWSS) contract vehicle, which has been extended to 27 July 2012.
