Meggitt Training Systems has been awarded a contract by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to operate and maintain small and supporting arms simulation training centres, known as weapon training simulation system (WTSS) facilities.

The contract follows an original award in 1999 and runs from July 2011 to June 2016.

Under the $30.8m contract, the company will provide operations and maintenance for 18 sites located at major troop locations throughout Australia.

The WTSS programme trains soldiers, sailors and airmen in the rules of engagement, judgment, marksmanship and indirect fire, which includes indirect fire forward air control (I-FACT) and indirect fire training (IFT) systems.
