The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.32% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.91% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.27% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.33% in January 2022, registering a 7.54% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 15.8% share, an increase of 70.43% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 10.62%, registering a 19.66% rise from December 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 5.83%, down 20.41% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 31.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Dana posted 416 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a drop of 6.09% over the previous month, followed by General Motors with 202 jobs and a 7.34% drop. Lucid Group with 201 IT jobs and Tesla with 120 jobs, recorded a growth and a 53.85% growth, respectively, while Advance Auto Parts recorded an increase of 85.96% with 106 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.53%, up by 20.64% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.67% share, registered an increase of 5.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.7% share, up 16.24% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.1%, recording a month-on-month decline of 91.3%.
