Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity drops 5.7% in November 2021

Europe witnessed a 5.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2021 has seen a decrease of 0.34% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 17.43% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 1.7% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 64.73% in November 2021, a 33.38% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.33% in November 2021, marking an 11.97% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.04% in November 2021, a 22.86% drop from October 2021.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 5.51% in November 2021, a 55.42% decline over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.88% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry during November 2021 over previous month.

Thales posted 218 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a decline of 3.96% over the previous month, followed by The Boeing with 123 jobs and a 39.11% drop. Raytheon Technologies with 47 IT jobs and James Fisher and Sons with 36 jobs, recorded a 74.07% rise and a 9.09% rise, respectively, while Blue Origin recorded a 20.45% decline with 35 job postings during November 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 36.61% share in November 2021, a 16.89% decrease over October 2021. France featured next with a 24.11% share, down 36.72% over the previous month. Germany recorded a 12.65% share, a drop of 46.2% compared with October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.07%, down by 26.85% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.2% share, registered a decline of 32.46% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.43% share, down 37.01% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.3%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
