Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 33%, emerged as the top advanced materials-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 0.98% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q1 2023, with new job postings dropping by 2% over the previous quarter.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 79% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Raytheon Technologies, Northrop Grumman, Blue Origin, GE Aviation, and Textron. Together they accounted for a combined share of 79% of all advanced materials-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
Raytheon Technologies posted 601 advanced materials-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Northrop Grumman 81 jobs, Blue Origin 20 jobs, GE Aviation 18 jobs, and Textron 16 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 83.35% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023
The largest share of advanced materials-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 83.35% followed by Canada (4.19%) and Mexico (3.33%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 88.00% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
