ST Electronics has announced the official opening of its DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre at the Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability at Jurong East.

The centre was set up by its wholly owned subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Security) Pte Ltd. It was officially opened by Ms Jacqueline Poh, managing director of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.

The DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre provides highly sophisticated operations-centric cyber security training that better prepares cyber security professionals in the detection and prevention of cyber-attacks.

Offering the closest encounter that any trainee can get in a simulated cyber-attack environment, the Centre’s training programmes allow users to experience and respond to the extensive kill-chain of real-world malicious attacks in a realistic environment.

Its comprehensive training courses cover all aspects of cyber defence, ranging from basic to expert levels, which will suit the needs of various cyber security professionals.

The centre ensures high-quality training and focuses on each trainee by maintaining a low trainer-trainee ratio. It also caters to infocomm professionals who are looking to enter or crossover to the field of cyber security operations.

With the proliferation and growing sophistication of ill-intentioned cyber attackers, the importance of defence operations in cyber space has never been more critical. The DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre bridges the cyber security operation skills gap by providing hands-on training to cyber security and Info-comm professionals, and drives the sharing of best practices in this area.

In addition to the official opening of the DigiSAFE Cyber Security Centre, ST Electronics (Info-Security) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nanyang Polytechnic to mark a joint collaboration in the development of cyber security certification and capabilities in Singapore.

The MOU is expected to enhance Singapore’s cyber security competency level and bridge the increasing needs for better equipped cyber security professionals.
