Leonardo DRS has received a contract worth $800m from the US Army to deliver sensor systems in support of the US Department of Defense’s (DoD) electro optical/infrared (EO/IR) programmes.
The company will produce the next-generation, lightweight precision laser targeting system called Rangefinder 3, an advanced infrared Family of Weapon Sights-Individual (FWS-I) thermal weapon sight, as well as stabilised infrared camera sensors called Integrated Vision System (IVS), under the contract.

Leonardo DRS’ scope of supply also includes the delivery of advanced infrared components for horizontal technology integration (HTI) second-generation forward-looking infrared (FLIR).
