The US Army has awarded new contract extensions, with a total value of approximately $85m, to high-performance protective solutions manufacturer KDH Defense Systems for the delivery of next-generation soldier protection systems.

Valued at $61m, the first award has been presented to the company for the supply of new modular scalable vest (MSV) Generation II systems.

This indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract extension has been awarded by the US Army Contracting Command (ACC).

Under the deal, KDH Defense will manufacture the MSV Gen II systems at the company’s Eden, North Carolina manufacturing facility.

Production of the protection system is expected to be completed on 20 August next year.

The second extension, which increases the contract ceiling by $23.8m, has been awarded by the ACC for the production of protection system torso and extremity protection blast pelvic protectors (BPP) for soldiers.

The modification will extend the ordering period by two years through to September 2020.
