The US Army has awarded a new contract to technology and services provider Ravenswood Solutions for the delivery of communications support services.

Under the deal, the company will be responsible for providing the communications support services during a Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) slated to be carried out in autumn this year at Fort Bliss, Texas, and the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

Valued at $1.3m, the contract has been awarded in support of the US Army Joint Modernization Command, which operates as a subordinate of the larger Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC).

During the NIE, the Joint Modernization Command will evaluate the present-day warfighter challenges while analysing new capabilities and doctrine.

As part of the project, Ravenswood Solutions will provide support to the evaluation using its advanced Mobile Ground Truth System, also known as FlexTrain by US Department of Defense (DoD) clients.

“We’ve trained over 130,000 troops with this technology, and we are proud to be bringing these services to the Joint Modernization Command.”

Ravenswood Solutions project manager Chris Mahana said: “We’ve trained over 130,000 troops with this technology, and we are proud to be bringing these services to the Joint Modernization Command.

“Every project and client bring unique technology and operations challenges, but tailoring our system to those unique requirements is where we excel.”

FlexTrain is a quickly deployable, global positioning system (GPS)-based instrumentation system that is capable of tracking vehicles, units and individual participants during training or testing exercises.

The results are provided as real-time casualty assessment (RTCA), which is a record of causal factors that affect capabilities changes, and a common operating picture that demonstrates both live and constructive elements.

In July this year, the company received a $2.2m contract from the army’s Mission and Installation Contracting Command for communications and test support services during the US Army Operational Test Command’s (USAOTC) review of the armoured multi-purpose vehicle (AMPV).
