The US Army has placed new orders with Comtech Telecommunications to continue delivering ongoing sustainment services for the AN/TSC-198A SNAP, very small aperture terminals (VSATs).
Referred to as the secret internet protocol router (SIPR) and non-classified internet protocol router (NIPR) access point, SNAP terminals are used to deliver quick and mobile satellite communications capability to the military personnel in the field.

Valued at more than $12.5m, the new award has been received by the Command & Control Technologies group, which serves as part of Comtech Telecommunications’s Government Solutions segment.
The new orders are built on the previously announced three-year contract, worth $123.6m, awarded to provide ongoing sustainment services. To date, the contract has received a total funding of $29.5m.
SNAP terminals are used to deliver quick and mobile satellite communications capability to the military personnel in the field.

Earlier this month, the company’s US-based subsidiary Comtech EF Data secured a $2.3m order for the supply of satellite modems to be used to support the US Army Project Manager (PM) Tactical Network.
Comtech’s Command & Control Technologies group focuses on providing mission-critical, highly mobile command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions to the customers.
