The Chief of Economic Affairs of the Logistical Support Command of the Army has awarded the Framework Agreement to Indra to support airworthiness certification of all aircraft used by the Spanish Army.

Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for providing engineering services to achieve and maintain the airworthiness certification of all the army aircraft.

Indra’s work is expected to make it easier for the army to obtain or renew the military certificates of airworthiness contemplated by the Regulation of Airworthiness of Defense (RAD).

The airworthiness certification will cover the army’s NH-90, Chinook CH-47F, EC-665 Tigre, EC-135, AS532 Cougar, AS332 Super Puma, UH-1H y AB-212 helicopters, in addition to the currently deployed and future remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPASs).

The term of the certification is essential in order to enable the aircraft to operate with complete security and it must be periodically renewed to ensure safety.

In addition, it will allow the company to provide the Spanish Ministry of Defense (MoD) with specialised personnel and high-tech equipment at all levels of maintenance.

To be distributed in four annuities between 2019 and 2022, the value of the contract is expected to be €7.4m.

With the provision of extension for another two years, the total value of the award will amount to €11.1m.

Indra is already contracted to deliver similar services for the Spanish Air Force aircraft.
