The US Army has received a proposal from BAE Systems for the development and testing of the Mobile Protected Firepower (MPF) vehicle to be used by the Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT).
The new combat vehicle is being developed to provide the IBCT with a protected platform that would be capable of facilitating improved precision firepower combined with the ability to move rapidly in a wide range of terrain conditions.

BAE Systems Combat Vehicles business development director Jim Miller said: “Our MPF vehicle is the result of more than 30 years of research and development to build a rapidly deployable, light combat vehicle designed specifically to support the light infantry.”
The fully integrated MPF system is based on the enhancements made on the US Army’s type-classified M8 Armored Gun System and other previous programmes.
The latest, modern low-risk vehicle will help provide the IBCT with a highly survivable, lethal, mobile and transportable system.

By GlobalData“It is as deployable as the IBCT’s other equipment and is easily sustained and maintained with assets already organic to the IBCT.
“Our infantry fights in close terrain, urban areas, and remote locations, so a smaller, lightweight vehicle that still provides superior protection and lethality was essential to the design of our MPF offering.”
BAE Systems has developed and constructed an MPF vehicle, which is currently undergoing internal testing.
On 2 April this year, the company intends to submit the system to the US Army in order to carry out additional US Government testing as a part of the bid assessment process.
