Lockheed Martin has secured a $944m contract for the production and supply of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) and PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) interceptors.

The weapons will be used by the US and allied military forces to upgrade and modernise their missile defence capabilities.

Lockheed Martin will deliver the PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE missiles and launcher modification kits to the US Army, Romania and other foreign military sales (FMS) customers.

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Integrated Air and Missile Defence vice-president and deputy Scott Arnold said: “PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE provide our customers and especially the deployed warfighter with unmatched terminal air and missile defence capabilities.

“The PAC-3 MSE uses a two-pulse solid rocket motor that enhances altitude and range to defeat evolving threats.”

The PAC-3 terminal air defence missile is a high-velocity interceptor that helps defend incoming threats, including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft.
