LAHAB, the medium- to large-calibre ammunition manufacturer of EDGE Group, has conducted the first dynamic test firing of a 155mm Extended Range Full Bore (ERFB) artillery round.
The round, which features a deep intrusion fuze well, was designed and produced in-house in the United Arab Emirates.

The test used a 52-calibre barrel, with all fired rounds following their predicted trajectories and landing within the target area.
In a release dated 28 October 2026, EDGE said the trial also demonstrated consistent grouping and tight dispersion.
The firing assessed the ammunition’s compatibility with weapons built to the Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding standard. It also compared predicted and measured chamber pressures, verified the expected points of impact and examined the structural integrity of the projectile components.
EDGE said the test met all its stated objectives.
EDGE missiles and weapons president Saif Al Dahbashi said: “This first firing confirms that chamber pressures, projectile performance, and component integrity all met our expectations. It marks the point at which our design moves from the drawing board to demonstrated performance.
“Artillery ammunition has become the clearest test of whether a country can supply itself, and building this capability in the UAE means our customers are not waiting in someone else’s production queue.”
The next phase will involve arena testing to assess the projectile’s effectiveness, followed by qualification against Military Standard requirements and Nato Standardisation Agreement 4224.
EDGE said qualification will support the assessment of the ammunition’s safety and suitability for service.
The work forms part of the HAZEEM programme, which aims to develop a range of artillery ammunition manufactured in the UAE.
