Patria has secured a contract to deliver its multistatic coherent location (MUSCL) passive radar system to an unnamed European Nato member.
The contract covers multiple sensor stations to provide extensive area coverage, as well as spare parts, support, and training services designed to enable rapid operational deployment.

Financial details and specific delivery timelines for the system have not been disclosed.
The MUSCL system is a transportable passive radar capable of detecting, tracking, and reporting aerial targets up to hundreds of kilometres away.
Utilising passive coherent location (PCL) technology, it relies on external broadcasting signals in the environment as “illuminators of opportunity,” which enables the detection and tracking of targets without actively transmitting.
This approach makes the system less susceptible to detection by adversaries’ signal intelligence and anti-radiation missiles, according to Patria.
Patria indicated the MUSCL technology is intended for use in roles including air surveillance, UAV detection, critical infrastructure protection, and border control.
The system aims to provide Nato users with greater situational awareness while maintaining operational security and minimising electromagnetic footprints.
Patria stated that the latest contract further reinforces its position as a provider of advanced surveillance and situational awareness capabilities for armed forces.
Patria defence and weapon systems business executive vice president Mikko Leino said: “This agreement demonstrates the customer’s confidence in Patria and our market-leading passive sensor technology.
“As military forces continue to strengthen their air defence and security capabilities, the demand for passive radar technologies that provide reliable early warning and support counter-UAS operations without revealing one’s own position is growing across Europe.”
Patria is demonstrating the MUSCL system alongside its CATCHR ESM system during the Electronic Warfare Live 2026 event in Estonia, which runs from 15–17 September 2026.
The demonstration will reportedly deliver real-time airspace situational awareness over Estonia and southern Finland without the systems emitting any signals themselves.
