According to Kongsberg, this latest order builds on previous deliveries of RS4 systems for the ACSV programme, marking the continuation of a longstanding partnership with GDLS-Canada.

Details regarding the delivery schedule and the number of RS4 units to be provided to Canada have not been disclosed.

Kongsberg executive vice president and defence systems division president Kjetil Reiten Myhra said: “This contract confirms our customer’s confidence in the Protector systems and further strengthens our long-term partnership with GDLS-Canada. We are proud that the RS4 continues to be selected as a key capability for the Canadian Armed Forces’ modern vehicle fleet.”

The Protector RS4 is designed as a remote weapon system for integration onto various vehicle platforms. It can be equipped with a mix of machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, and optional anti-tank guided missiles, providing vehicle crews with remote-controlled lethality and improved situational awareness.

The system incorporates a stabilised, four-axis architecture and advanced sensors, enabling accurate target engagement while the vehicle is in motion.

Kongsberg’s RS4 family has been widely fielded on tactical vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, and naval vessels.

The company stated that the RS4’s adaptability allows for the mounting of a variety of weapon calibres, including 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and 12.7mm machine guns and 40mm grenade launchers.

This recent contract follows another one earlier in 2026, when Patria contracted Kongsberg to supply RS4 remote weapon stations for over 300 Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles, with that agreement valued at about €140m.
