With its 4×4 hybrid drivetrain, 4 TROOP incorporates integrated uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and advanced sensor suites and is capable of both discrete and long-range operations.
The companies stated that the vehicle can operate and coordinate both UAVs and uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs), supporting mission profiles such as decision support, reconnaissance, troop coordination, escort, logistical support, surveillance, and the deployment of uncrewed systems.
The prototype features Thales’s secure communications and tactical connectivity solutions that are fully integrated into the vehicle’s electronic architecture, enabling real-time operational coordination and decision support.
The system includes substantial data processing capacity and AI-enabled decision aids intended to enhance situational awareness and response times for land forces.
Thales also contributed its Combat Digital Platform, which provides cybersecure solutions compliant with military operational and connectivity standards.
In addition, the vehicle has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, allowing it to power external electrical equipment in the field.
The solution can be integrated with other vehicles in the Renault Group range, including SUVs and utility vehicles, increasing its flexibility for various military applications.
The companies stated that the platform supports efficient coordination and ensures the vehicle can interoperate with existing command systems for missions both in France and abroad.
Thales secure communications and information systems, executive vice president Christophe Salomon said: “Building on existing vehicle software solutions and Thales’s digital platforms, 4 TROOP transforms tactical data into an in-depth, actionable understanding of the environment to anticipate developments, decide and act with greater agility, efficiency and security.
“This innovation clears the way forward to a new generation of dual solutions where data acts as a performance enhancer and force multiplier to support domestic security operations as well as high-intensity combat missions.”
