This tactical initiative also serves to broaden EDGE’s footprint within the defence sectors of Nato member nations.

EDGE Space and Cyber Technologies president Waleid Al Mesmari said: “This undertaking within our partnership with Indra marks a significant milestone in delivering innovative secure communication solutions to Spanish and Nato markets. By bringing together Katim’s expertise in cyber-secure communications and Indra’s extensive European defence experience, we are well-positioned to support the evolving security needs of allied nations.”

Additionally, EDGE and ELT have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the establishment of a joint venture in the UAE.

The agreement was also signed at the IDEX 2025.

It is expected to lead to the creation of a new entity focused on developing Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, including Cyber Electromagnetic Applications (CEMA).

The potential collaboration was formalised by EDGE Group managing director and CEO Hamad Al Marar and ELT Group chairman and CEO Enzo Benigni.

If successful, the joint venture would concentrate on integrating EW solutions into maritime vessels produced by EDGE Group’s maritime division, ADSB, and Maestral.

The aim of this partnership is to bolster mutual capabilities in various domains.

It intends to ensure a comprehensive approach to electronic defence, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electromagnetic attack, homeland security, and infrastructure protection.

It is also expected to strengthen both companies’ positions as contributors to electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) and meet the changing demands of the defence sector on a regional and international scale.

Enzo Benigni said: “This collaboration aligns with ELT’s strategy to expand partnerships within the UAE defence ecosystem by working with key players like Edge Group.

“The primary aim is to provide to UAE cutting-edge, locally developed EMSO solutions and to strengthen our position in export markets, particularly in non-Nato countries.”
