The Ukrainian armed forces have received an additional 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) from Rheinmetall and the first batch of LAV 6.0 armoured combat support vehicles (ACSV) from Canada.
Rheinmetall announced that the IFV delivery, finalised at the end of the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, increases the total number of combat vehicles supplied to Ukraine to approximately 200, either directly or through ring exchanges.

The Marder 1A3 version is equipped with advanced laser rangefinders.
This comes after Germany commissioned the order in April 2024.
The German government financed the latest order, valued at a mid-double-digit million-euro amount, with the order intake recorded in March 2024.
Rheinmetall began refurbishing Marder 1A3 IFVs from Bundeswehr stocks in spring 2022, initially funding the process independently.

Developed for the Bundeswehr, the Marder is still partially in service and has undergone several modernisations to improve its combat performance.
Meanwhile, the Puma is gradually replacing the Marder, with more than 300 of these IFVs currently in use by the German armed forces.
In a separate development, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) said in a post on X that it has facilitated the delivery of ACSVs to Ukraine. Operation UNIFIER is the Canadian Armed Forces mission to support the security forces of Ukraine.
These vehicles, including the ‘ambulance’ variant of the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV), are claimed to be crucial for evacuating wounded personnel from combat zones.
After extensive training in Germany, the LAVs were shipped to Ukraine, ready to contribute to the nation’s defence.
The LAV, used by the Canadian Army and the US Marine Corps, is designed for reconnaissance and support, featuring a 7.62mm machine gun and a crew of four.
