Leidos announced on 9 April 2024, that it has been selected for a prime contract to enhance  the Army National Guard’s aviation training services and operational support.

The contract, characterised by a cost-plus-award-fee structure, spans a one-year period and is valued at approximately $13.7m.

Under the terms of the agreement, Leidos will take on the responsibility of advancing aviation training and operations for the Army National Guard with the aim of improving the National Guard’s preparedness and operational readiness.

Tim Freeman, senior vice president and airborne systems business area lead at Leidos, expressed the company’s enthusiasm about the partnership. “The National Guard is one of the nation’s oldest institutions, always prepared to protect and defend our country. We look forward to leveraging our aviation experience and expertise to further enhance the National Guard’s readiness advantage.” said Freeman.

The collaboration is anticipated by the Army National Guard, with COL A.C. Schilleci, Chief of the Aviation and Safety Division, highlighting the value Leidos brings to the table. “Army National Guard Aviation is excited about this new opportunity to join our highly professional Aviation training force with the experience and professionalism that Leidos brings to the fight,” remarked Schilleci.

“As we begin to shape and transition our training programs to support Large Scale Combat Operations in the multi-domain operational environment, we believe Leidos maintains the capabilities to meet our specific requirements,” continued  Schilleci.

Leidos will deliver comprehensive support across various aspects of aviation institutional training. The contract encompasses flight and simulation training, classroom instruction, and information technology support designed to enhance the effectiveness of training programs for both officers and enlisted personnel. 

Leidos will facilitate the integration of the One Army School System (OASS) and provide maintenance for Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE), aiming to advance the operational capabilities of the Army National Guard.
