The US Army Contracting Command has awarded a $37m contract to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products to provide reactive armour tile sets for the Bradley fighting vehicle.
Deliveries will start in late 2009 and are expected to be complete by early 2010. Work will be carried out at the General Dynamics facility in McHenry, Illinois.

General Dynamics vice president and general manager Russ Klein said the armour system will feature tiles that can better withstand a direct hit from a range of anti-armour munitions that fit to the exterior of the fighting vehicle
“Our reactive armour technology is lightweight and provides an increased level of equipment and troop protection against shape-charged and improvised threats,” Klein said.
The production workload will be shared by General Dynamics’s strategic partner RAFAEL Armament Development Authority, Ordnance Systems Division, in Haifa, Israel.
