The US Army has awarded two contract modifications worth $17m to Oshkosh Defense to renovate heavy and line-haul vehicles.

The contracts were awarded by the US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC).

The modification work will be completed by the Oshkosh Defense theatre-provided equipment refurbishment programme (TPER).

The Oshkosh Defense TPER aims to renovate worn-out tactical vehicles and make them mission operable.

The TPER programme will extend through 2010 and repair more than 1,700 vehicles and trailers for the US Army.

Contracts include the palletised load system (PLS), heavy expanded mobility tactical truck (HEMTT) and heavy equipment transporter (HET) produced by Oshkosh as part of the family of heavy tactical vehicles.
