The US Army has awarded a contract to QinetiQ North America for the continued design, development and maintenance of advanced mission planning tools (AMPT).

Under the contract, the company will support the US special operations mission planning and execution (SOMPE), which provides integrated mission planning software to the US Special Operations Command.

The contract has a five-year period of performance and a $10m ceiling.

QinetiQ special operations programmes vice-president John Lewis said that integrated with the Defense Department’s portable flight-planning system, the company’s software gives special-operations pilots added confidence to complete their assigned missions as planned.

The US Army aviation integration directorate, Aviation and Missile Command and the SOMPE Program Office has awarded the contract to QinetiQ’s Systems Engineering Group.
