The US Navy has awarded a $13.5m contract to Lockheed Martin to provide management and engineering services for the DDG-51 Arleigh Burke Class of guided missile destroyers.
Under the contract, the company will provide the services for the combat system compartments and topside arrangements including programme management and operation support, quality assurance, configuration management, ship design integration and fleet life cycle engineering support.

In addition, Lockheed will provide installation support, firmware maintenance, combat system test and evaluation as well as navy-furnished material support, special studies and future-ship integration studies.
The services to be provided by Lockheed to maintain and modify the design of DDG 51 Class ships and CG 47 Class ships as necessary are in support of the programme executive office integrated warfare systems.
Work will be carried out at several locations in the US. It is expected to be complete by November 2010.
