It is developed primarily for use against snipers on mobile combat vehicles.

BBN has already delivered more than 5,000 Boomerang systems to the US Army and the coalition has more than 6,000 Boomerang systems in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of which are mounted on mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles.

Boomerang said it eventually aims to provide its technology to regardless of the troops environment – in moving vehicles, fixed positions, on foot or in the air.

In recent times the company has improved the Boomerang shooter detection technology for soldier-wearable and helicopter applications.
