The US Army has selected Raytheon to act as network systems integrator for the Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiment (AEWE).

The systems integrator will provide a single backbone network, which will be able to integrate more than 25 technologies from more than 20 different companies and agencies currently being developed under the AEWE programme.

Raytheon will integrate a variety of communication devices, command and control applications and sensor platforms to establish a network for the purpose of AEWE, which will focus on emerging technologies and concept experiments in a live field environment.

The company’s MAINGATE solution will provide the backbone of the system, which will be used to connect the ground sensors, unmanned ground vehicles and unmanned aircraft.

As part of the network integration Raytheon is providing simultaneous support of multiple full-motion video channels, robust and detailed situational awareness, command and control, chat, voice nets and call groups and on-the-move access to web 2.0 applications.

More than 150 soldiers will take part in the three-week experiment which will include 14 different missions. The experiment is scheduled for early 2010 at the Fort Benning, Georgia MLB.

AEWE will be managed by the Manoeuvre Battle Lab (MBL) at Fort Benning, Georgia, in cooperation with United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and the Army Capabilities Integration Centre (ARCIC).
