The US Army has awarded a contract to General Dynamics C4 Systems to provide engineering and logistics support services for the Land Warrior integrated modular fighting systems.

Under the estimated $50m contract, the company will deploy Land Warrior-equipped units and provide support for housing, repairing and shipping spare and replacement Land Warrior equipment globally.

The Land Warrior is an integrated soldier-carried system that incorporates computers, wireless communications and global positioning technologies to provide the wearer with situational awareness, maps and imagery, and voice and text messaging capabilities on the battlefield.

The system is integrated with the soldier’s body armour has a helmet-mounted display, and can store more than 600 images, including photographs of targets and locations.

The contract, with an initial value of $19m for the year, has one base year with two option years.
