The British Army will help modernise and restructure the Nepalese Army and its Defence Ministry as part of a mutual cooperation agreement, according to the Defence Ministry.

British Army chief General Sir David Julian Richards said during a recent visit to Nepal that the army was willing to provide assistance to the Nepalese Army to help manage and restructure the Defence Ministry, according to brahmand.com.

During a meeting with Nepalese Defence Minister Vidya Devi Bhandari, Richards said that the UK wanted to further strengthen relations between the armies of the two countries.

A British Army team will be sent to Nepal to discuss matters relating to providing necessary cooperation to the Nepalese Army and Defence Ministry soon after his return to UK, the army chief said.
