Under a new deal agreed with EADS, Luminator will provide its LS16 searchlight for the US Army’s UH-72A Lakota light utility helicopter.
The LS16 searchlight is a smooth, bi-directional focusing system specifically designed to improve flight safety, integrate the latest technology, improve reliability, simplify assembly, and reduce maintenance costs.

The searchlight delivers more than 30 million candlepower, a 4° to 20° beam spread, using solid-state electronics and a highly precise optical system.
The LS16 also provides variable-speed azimuth and elevation motion at speeds up to 30° a second.
In addition, Luminator will also provide operator, maintenance training and systems engineering support to ensure proper use and maintenance of the searchlight throughout the product’s lifecycle.
Luminator was selected by EADS North America, the prime contractor to produce Lakota helicopters for the US Army.
