Military scientists at the DRDO conducted a similar test last week during which the Nag missile launched from a Namica tracked missile carrier and destroyed a stationary object in three seconds at the army’s firing range.
The missile is equipped with an active imaging infra-red seeker and a highly potent HEAT (high-explosive anti-tank) warhead, and is suitable for day and night operations.
The Nag missile is scheduled to enter Indian Army service after completing final validation trials, which are scheduled for July 2010.
