Defence technology company Anduril Industries has joined the American Rheinmetall Vehicles-led industry team to pursue the US Army’s new optionally-manned fighting vehicle (OMFV) programme.
Anduril will support the team’s offering, the Lynx vehicle, for the programme by providing customised command and control (C2) software.

According to the companies, the software offers data fusion and battlefield awareness to the vehicle to help it deal with emerging time-sensitive threats.
Anduril Strategy head Zach Mears said: “Software is at the core of the weapons and military systems of the future. Anduril specialises in delivering advanced mission autonomy, enabling commanders and battle managers to command and control more lethal capability at the tactical edge.
“We are thrilled to join Team Lynx and will leverage our deep experience in artificial intelligence, mission autonomy, and sensor integration to significantly reduce the cognitive burden of the OMFV’s two soldier crew and provide them with next-generation tactical awareness, C2, and decisive lethality to dominate future battlefields.”
The OMFV development is aimed at replacing nearly 3,800 M-2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).

Also known as ‘Team Lynx’, the group is offering the Lynx vehicle as the next-generation infantry fighting vehicle for the programme.

Last year, the US Army awarded contracts to five teams to proceed to the programme’s second stage of the concept design phase.
