The US Army Contracting Command has awarded a $353.98m contract to Textron Inc’s unit Textron Systems for XM204 Top Attack munition and related trainers.
The five-year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) production contract was awarded in support of the US Army Project Manager Close Combat Systems.

The XM204 munitions and XM98 emplacement trainers are scheduled to be delivered in 2023 for an initial operational capability declaration.
The contract was awarded following a US Army Europe Operational Needs Statement.
Textron Systems Weapon Systems senior vice-president Henry Finneral said: “We are supporting the Army’s urgent need with an anti-vehicle munition that helps soldiers control the physical landscape.
“Soldiers will be able to create obstacles in terrain where they don’t naturally exist, slowing enemy vehicles down and preventing their advancement.”

The XM204 features stand-off and top attack capabilities to support challenging terrain shaping operations.
The highly portable XM204 can be employed alone or deployed along with other terrain shaping systems.
Through the contract, the US Army seeks to not only replace dated munition, but also enhance the capability of terrain shaping obstacles.
Finneral added: “XM204 is a modern solution at a time when modernisation is a top priority for our customer.”
In June this year, Textron Systems partnered with Horstman Group to integrate HydroCore suspension technology into its M5 Robotic Vehicle- Medium.
As part of the collaboration, Horstman’s Scalable Mobility architecture and HydroCore upgrade kits will be tested for two years.
