It is expected that an announcement will be made during the offical visit of President Dimitri Medevdev to Lebanon in January 2011, stating that Russia will provide military aid to the Lebanese Army.
Lebanon will receive 31 T-72 tanks and six MI 24 helicopters, the Daily Star reports, quoting Central News Agency (CNA).

The aid is part of Russia’s military assistance agreement, signed during Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s visit to Moscow in November.
During the visit, Hariri said Russia had agreed to provide six MI 24 helicopters, 31 T-72 tanks, 36 130mm calibre cannons, half a million different munitions and 30,000 artillery shells.
The US has recently lifted the hold on $100m of military aid after being reassured that Lebanese troops would prevent flare-ups along the border with Israel.
The United Arab Emirates provided three Puma IRA 330 Helicopters to the army in September with another three to be delivered before end 2010.
