Chemring Group subsidiary, Non-Intrusive Inspection Technology (NIITEK), has been awarded a contract from the US Army to supply 64 Husky mine detection systems.

The $38.4m contract has a potential maximum value of $78m and the systems will be delivered over the period to October 2011.

The mine detection systems will be used to clear buried mines in support of US peacekeeping operations worldwide.

The US and Canada have ordered 240 systems to date, of which a significant number are already in operation.
