Saab has received an order for its artillery-hunting radar (ARTHUR) weapon locating system for better surveillance, threat detection, location and force protection.

ARTHUR is a C-band medium-range weapon-locating system which utilises passive phased-array antenna technology to detect and locate enemy fire.

The radar has a 3km-60km range, a capacity of over 100 targets a minute and can be transported on a C-130 Hercules, airlifted by a CH-47 Chinook or by a medium-size helicopter.

The weapon-locating system is widely used by Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Norway, Spain, Sweden and UK.

The system order, worth Skr200m ($29.7m), will be developed and manufactured in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The company has neither revealed the details of the customer nor the delivery date.
